Any with one, are you able to see if the Amazon Alexa app is available in store?

Someone showed me that on his Nokia, it is available - and wondering if the OS *could* be the reason

Not an Android One but a Moto Z which I understand has a pretty generic version of android. I did have to side load it from the SA play store.

FWIW it's not available in the ZA store on my Nokia 5 either.

EDIT - it is available when I switch to the UK store.

The version could be a factor but one is more of a flavour and there is nothing in the developer console that let's you pick os flavours.

You can pick from geography, os version device type (phone, tablet, etc), and even as far as the specific device.

I can find it under the amazon account lost, but not in search and when opening it it says its not available in my country.

Said someone obviously has his/her app store setup for another region. There was a time when za had a far more limited selection of apps and I went through the hassle of changing my store country, but it's a hell of a process which includes changing your address in 3+ different places, adding a credit card for said country to your wallet and making a purchase on said card while being in said country (VPN will work).

Thanks guys.

He swears he hasn't touched anything on his phone - so a bit weird.

I thought he had it wrong at the start but he showed me it was in the store

Sorry I reread now ...

I think you're right :

He just showed me the app in the store without actually installing. So maybe at that point, it would have stopped him.

I don't even have the app showing though !

Yeah, does not show up in search only on amazon's list of apps, but that's a new thing, in the past unavailable apps were hidden from all areas of the store.

It's available in my UK store (when I use a VPN) but I side loaded it.

That's how this discussion came about :

He sells the Amazon products but hasn't used or installed. So I started telling him about side loading (or installing via the Amazon App Store direct).... And he says the app is available in his store - and shows me!

I didn't know how or why - but the above makes sense.

Yeah I've got an Android One Nokia Sirocco, and Amazon Alexa gives me that same "not available" error.
