Hi guys...
I am looking for an optomization app to download for my wifes Huawei Honor X8. Have been going through the PlayStore, downloaded and tested apps like CCcleaner, Avast, and some other "not so well known", but none of them actually delivers on their promises (no adds, no in-app purchase, ect)

Any suggestions??

For what are you needing these apps for, cause back in the real world they serve no beneficial purpose.

Like freeing up ram literally makes the phone slower, not faster. Unix based operating systems like android and iOS have exceptional memory management and are designed to run at around 80%, moving out lesser used apps as and when needed.

All those apps actually do is just waste space and probably spy on you.

Well, to be honest, I don't really know a lot about these kinda things (and my wife knows even less. Don't tell her I said so), so I go with what I think migh do the trick, if you catch my drift.

For example...
After browsing the net, using Chrome on her device, the phone will get almost lagging or non responsive. You literally have to go and clear the cache and history, and that cookies thing, to get any result.
The same thing happens when she plays games on her phone.

My biggest issue here is that she does a lot of work from her device as well (Gmail and she uses online shopping apps for market research). If I cannot get this sorted out for her, it would have to be a seperate device for work, and play, which I don't want to do

Legally it’s a smart thing to have separate devices for work and play, but that’s another issue all together.

I’d actually just replace the device, it’s heading into 5 years old, it stopped getting security updates over 2 years ago. Using it overall is just unsafe.

It was great in it’s time, but at its current age the battery is probably wearing down, which means the phones probably slowing down the processor to maintain charge and reduce heat, gaming on that at this point is actually just asking for trouble.

At its current age, the only thing it’s really safe for is phone calls. Being online with that would be risky.

Maybe, if it’s possible, replacing the battery will help, but that only deals with the hardware, and not the fact that it’s a portable security risk.

Actually, the battery is great. Sometimes it can go to almost 2days without charging.

I am simply trying to get something that would clear memory and boost the device processing

Yeah, but that’s not the solution to the problem, clearing memory is a bad thing to do, that’s why there are no good apps to actually do it.

Yes, the battery will still last, because the device is slowing itself down, that’s what older devices do to protect themselves from catastrophic failure.

All those apps you listed will do what you want, but your not going to find a good one, because nobody makes a good version of a bad app.

So, putting it in Layman's term, I AM SCREWED, AND IT WILL COST ME A LOT OF MONEY

Or you can just use the apps you don’t like, they will do what your wanting to do.

But again, that phones over 2 years behind in security updates. That’s enough of a terrifying reason to replace it.

Maybe look at Samsung, they offer up 4 years of major updates and an additional 1 for security updates so many of those is safe to use for 5 years.

I have already uninstalled all those apps I downloaded. So at the moment, there aint anything on that device to speed up, or clear up, nothing.

Someone told me that they purchased Avast, but for their mobile device, and aparantly paid a once off amount, valid for 12months.
Does that sound about right?

So you want to waste more money on software THAT DOESN'T WORK instead of saving it and getting a newer phone?

If that's the case, get Avast, Mcafee, bitdefender, panda, CCleaner and any more you can think of.

Enabling developer options and changing all the animation scales to 0 will make the phone much more snappier.
