to the guys that have passwords on their phones, how do you keep people near or next to you maybe in the office or such from seeing what password you type to unlock your phone

Either under the desk or I run to the filing room or toilet.

Just kidding. :D Seriously how cramped is your office?

Make it awkward. Swivel chair around or angle the screen away.

Android: My screen pattern (without visible lines) seems harder to casually observe than a password.

I see colleagues and friends typing in their passwords quite obviously. A fast, sweeping pattern > a numeric password?

I have never had a phone or sim password. :)

Quite a dangerous practice on smartphones - if someone steals it, they very quickly have access to a lot of your personal information.

I use a pattern to unlock without the lines showing. The problem is when i get it wrong, it shows my mistakes - which is very close to the actual pattern

I am sure i saw the GS4 has a picture pattern unlocker - thats quite cool, cause only you know your pattern in relation to the picture

Yeah I get why people need it, it's not just a pronz protector...

I don't have any personal info on my phone though.

Not even your personal email account? What do you use your smart phone for? Oh wait i see pronz

Good question. I have an email account on there but nothing in it that is any special info that I need to keep safe..... Actually now that I think of it I suppose people could use my email address to reset passwords etc.

so from all that how does one keep the password from passing eyes

Personally - I only ever make use of a pattern unlock when out partying with people I don't know or going over to friends, knowing that there'll be people I don't know.
Because I tend to leave my phone lying around on a table at a friend's place or whatever.

Otherwise, its just swip to unlock for me.

Face unlock?

Flaws and mentions of unlocking phones with a picture of the owner are all over the web.

I have never had a phone or sim password. :)

See you at the next KZN MyBBMeet ;) :p

Hunch over your phone?

I would assume that even a strong password can be overcome even with phone encryption?
