I have been slowly moving over to Android from Apple iOS. Now loving my Samsung Note 3 LTE - good change after owning 4 different iPhone models.

I want to replace my iPad with a Samsung tablet, but I am concerned about something. Probably the most use I get out of my iPad, is my PDF app - Goodreader. I store everything on there, all my manuals for anything electronic and electric in my house....more than 80 manuals and service repair manuals. I also keep tons of magazines on there for reading on a plane/train etc. I like the layout of Goodreader, where you can make your own files, name them, and put all your books/manuals/magazines in.

I read on the Goodreader website that they do not have any plans to make an Android version of Goodreader. Is there a similar Android app on the playstore that someone can recommend, that is similar to Goodreader ? Basically a PDF library with lots of functionality. I don't mind paying for the right app

Thanks

Aldiko is quite good but not sure how it compares to Goodreader...

Why don't you upload your PDFs to Google Books, thn use the Google Books app (Android, iOS and Web) as the reader?

Don't know Goodreader, but I use EZ PDF Reader. It allows you to make annotations in the PDF, which is pretty useful, especially if you have a Samsung Note device (ie with an s-pen).

You mean creating different folders where you save the various PDFs?

Yes, thats right. For example make a folder entitled "camera manuals" where all my Canon/Sony manuals would be stored. Or a folder called "Android Magazine" which is where all my Android Magazines would be stored.

I haven't used any other PDF reader, so I am not sure if they come with the features of Goodreader

Android supports a proper file system your apps can access - therefore you can use either the folder view to browse or use a search/library functionality that one would expect to find in a half decent PDF app.

I use Ebookdroid - it has folder view, library, tabs to allow switching between multiple files, and reasonably fast. Except I don't, once I found SmartQ reader I had to relegate Ebookdroid to just epud/djvu and backup. SmartQ is fast, buttery smooth going forward. It allows me to create categories which is basically tags them into the category folders after scanning from the filesystem. It does not switch between multiple files without exiting the currently loaded PDF sadly, but its speed makes up for this shortcoming.

The WPS office package should tick every box.... and it is free......

Thanks, I will try that one
