Just a note for anyone noticing issues with their Ant+ connected devices (heart rate chest straps, connected smart devices etc.). It seems that Google has stuffed up support for Ant+ devices with the latest version of Android.
I first noticed it when my Lezyne Mega C bicycle computer failed to connect to my Xiaomi Mi A1 - I cleared the settings on both the computer and phoned, re-scanned and was able to connect via Bluetooth (fortunately the Mega C supports both connections).
I noticed it again yesterday when trying to connect my Wahoo Tickr chest strap via Wahoo's Android app - Again, cleared the existing settings and was able to re-connect via Bluetooth (again I was lucky that the Tickr also supports both connections).
Upon going into the Wahoo app's settings it was indicated that there is no support for Ant+ connections. I had no issues connecting either of the two devices mentioned on the same phone running Android 8.1.

I Googled the issue and according to a number of users on XDA developers (with various phone brands - Nokia, One Plus etc.) and it seems to be a known issue with the update.

There also doesn't seem to be an indication of when the issue will be sorted out.

I have ant, but never knew how to use it, is it like magic or does it run through Bluetooth?

Android Pie is a fu**up. Don't upgrade to it if you don't want to lose a lot of functionality on your smartphone.

I've heard of a couple of things, yet to run into something that actually effects me

Call recording is absolutely critical for me and the business I am in. It allows me to be out of the office and still conduct business telephonically. If it is removed, I am restricted to my office where calls are recorded via landlines. With this feature removed, Android is a useless OS for me as well as any device that runs it.

Sure, that's you, totally understandable, however while SA is a 1 party consent country, many are not and with near 80% market share, Google pisses off a lot more governments than Crapple does. Many devices on 9 have not lost this functionality as their oems have added in some time and as an OEM feature they continue to work and this change only effects 3rd party recorders.

Call recording works on my Redmi 3s via the OEM recorder, I have heard reports from many Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi owners have reported the same.
