Android pop up blocker

Use adblock for android. You can get the API from the adblock site. I would have a look at the third party apps you have connected to facebook and also run a malware check on your phone.

It's not a Facebook thing though, I've been getting the same popup during general web browsing. It seems to be linked to Adsense based on the limited reading that I've done...

That's the exact same thing as my OP. It's bloody infuriating. I now have a pop up blocker and make are scanner and it seems to have stopped.
I must find the owner of that site. I will butcher him
I'll join you, just tell me if you find the bugger. I just bought a new set of chef knives for my house. You bring the guns

Problem is that you only masked the problem. The app causing this is still on your phone and by deduction (unfortunately), you are supporting the "owner"/dev who gets revenue from it. I have Adaway installed on my phone (for root). There are apps that does not require root though and they should be able to indicate which app is causing he problem. I found a couple of these culprits on my wife's phone and when I looked at the apps' comments on the play store, people clearly were pissed off by the amount of pop-up (or other) adds in the app. I make it a point of reading the comments by other users to try and prevent this type of thing. I am testing Malwarebytes right now to see if what is on my phone... I will compare it with Adaway's results

EDIT:
Malwarebytes found 2 - Wifikill and Faceniff, but classified them as Hacktools.
Adaway found 2 others - Eye Witness News and Supersport

Until Google gets their asses into gear and does something about it uninstall Chrome from your device and use Opera Mini or some other Adsense-unfriendly browser.
