if you go to the app info for the settings app, there is a clear data, what does clearing this data do?.. surely if someone using your phone cleared this data it would remove all settings?. anyone wanting to play with you could reset your pattern lock and hand you the phone back?

You and your friend should realize that a person's phone is their 'personal' device, you included.

Don't give your phone to someone you can't trust with it.

And also when looking at other people's phones don't intrude on their privacy.

Pretty much any phone is like that, iphones etc all have a factory reset option.
Im not sure if it prompts for a security code if your phone has one enabled.

Keep calm. It just clears data for that particular app and not the whole phone.

its not a factory data reset.. there is an application called settings, and if you go to the info for this app there is a clear data option, does clearing this erase all settings, even pattern locks etc?
