Android starting to win the tablet war as well ...

Tons of cheap Chinese tablets out there. They are also getting surprisingly good

But Apple only makes one line of tablets. Android tablets gets made by hundreds of vendors®

Doesn't put Android less in the lead?

Not sure why people keep mentioning this. It is company strategy that will make it better or worse than competitors. Apples strategy is clearly not working so well anymore.

Would probably make more sense to compare hardware manufacturer and OS separately (Apple vs Samsung/Asus/etc and iOS vs Android) for tablets. I am not brand loyal though so not phased.

agreed. part of the overall revenue is derived from hardware sales, part from the surrounding ecosystem.
higher adoption = more reach = taller verticals = upselling etc.
if you're able to convert mass market to premium market and still keep them on your platform, you've won.

I just wish the Android tablets were not so low quality. They are still making 10 inch tablets with 1280 x 800 screens! I want 1080p screens in a 10 inch tablet minimum!

And even worse, they charge the same for a 1280 x 800 screen as Apple does for a 2048 x 1536 screen.

Nexus 10?

A) you cant get it on contract and B) it has no 3G.

There are only a few Android tablets with high resolution displays, and I dont think any of them are available in SA on contract.

Apple caters for the high end users not for the cheap ass masses.®

Considering half the hardware is Samsung, LG, etc... I would say they just ripping customers a new one under the pretense that said customer is now in an exclusive click.

BTW: My tablet is an iPad 4 32GB 4G before you think I am a fanboy. My phone is an S4. I go for whatever is best for at the time of my requirements.
