Is this necessary?, as they say better safe than sorry, but what are the performance impacts of using say Avast?, if one doesnt stray away from the android market to install applications, is it still worth it to use an antivirus?. yes the market has had instances of malware too.
 
I havent noticed a performance drop after installing it on my galaxy s
 
Best anti-virus on all platforms is common sense. I don't yet think anti-virus is necessary for phones/tablets if you play safe and smart.
 
I normally install lookout, but not for the AV, more for the ability to track my device when stolen.
 
Using eset nod32 as I have a subscription for my pc's and therefore get free phone licence! But it does seem pointless so far.
