I am looking for a cheapish 7" or larger Android tablet. Seen some cheap options on Ebay.co.za imported from China. Any other options out there?

P.S. Googled it and found the same cheap Chinese "ipad clone" import selling for R650 - R900 on Ebay selling for R2500 on jump.co.za - http://www.jump.co.za/products/details/38255952-android-tablet-pc-ipad-7-new.htm. Do people actually buy from these guys and don't people realise what a rip-off the jump.co.za site is?

Ya i've seen alot of these android tabs on BoB and selling for quite cheap.. But dont wanna waste money on one of these things..

Those cheap Fong Kong ones are not too bad but the touch screen is crappy. I would suggest trying one out before purchasing. There was a guy on Gumtree selling them and he brought one to me and did a demo on it.

Thanks for all the feedback. I looked at the Samsung one, but I expect it to be rather expensive. I also looked at the Marvell $100 tablet, but no announcement regarding a launch date has been made.

Im really just looking for a simple Android tablet, WiFi enabled selling for under R900 as I need to buy quite a few. But I am also a bit cautious about the Chinese brands' lack of quality.

No, after the Galaxy S, which is a pretty good smartphone.

Galaxy S (Android) -> Galaxy S tablet (Android)

Omnia (Windows mobile) -> Hell

I sooo agree the Omnia really sucked but android seems to deal with all the shortfalls really well ... Galaxy S is a huge step up ... try it u wont be sorry

Chinese Android

Hi there,
I recently bought an Android 2.2 8 inch tablet from Dinodirect.com and was pleasantly surprised at the good quality. I had a look at the Samsung Galaxy tab, but at R7000 plus, it is way expensive.
The tablet I got, has the same Android version than the Galaxy, plus it has a bigger screen. It has a very fast CPU and nice DDR 2 memory. I paid about R1200 for it from Dino, and it took 3 weeks to be delivered to my local Post Office.
The only drawback is that it does not have build in 3G, instead one has to use a 3G dongle. Also it does not have a camera, but I havent had the need for one, my phone has one, so that enough for me.
Otherwise, it is a great tablet, very good build quality and has access to the huge Android market.
