Android Useful Apps

Dudes seriously.

Without being funny. We asked nicely that you contribute meaningfully. If you dont want to, then piss off. If you want to, then please do and try and follow the template as much as you can. We aren't serious all the time, we just saw you are new and tried to put you on the right track. Ball is in your court buddy...

For the benefit of everyone I'll take this to private message in an attempt to keep this thread on topic. You seemingly have no desire to do so but here's hoping you'll also keep this in PM now.

Oh, and I'm not new.

Any word on whether the Nokia Z launcher is any good ? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.here.app.maps

Been using it for the past two weeks or so and i like it. I mainly like the swipe to search and open apps contacts etc from the home screen , now i dont need to scroll through tons of apps to get what i need. It also keeps tracks of frequently used apps and keeps them right on the home screen for quick access (dynamic list of frequently used apps)

O piss off. You are complaining to the wrong person here. If you dont like my responses, report them.

Same goes for you Dubes, do whatever the fsck you all want. See if I give a schit if the thread goes to hell.

Kudos fanie, some people just have to throw thier toys out of the cot no matter how polite you are.

What do you guys use as a calculator? I used an awesome app that was called "Calculations" and couldn't find it on the play store to re-install when I changed my ROM. I was able to restore it using Titanium Backup from a Nandroid backup...

I like it cause it does measurement conversions (feet to inches to meters to miles, etc) as well as currency conversions (not sure if this is updated now that the app is no longer available?) as well as a tipping calculator (enter bill amount, number of people and % tip and it works out the cost per person).

Seems it was made by a local company, Apex Technology, but the links to the Play store don't work anymore... http://apextechnology.co.za/

bump

It looks very complicated though... Is there any way I can get an apk from my phone to share "Calculations" with you guys to give it a try?

What's the point though? It was last updated in 2012 and none of the extra stuff work because it has nowhere to download the data from.

Not an Android app as such but maybe something worth having: Raccoon - Google Play desktop client.
Raccoon is an alternative GPlay client, allowing for accessing the market from your desktop computer and storing Android APK files in a private depot on your hard drive. Why take this detour and not install apps directly on your device?

  • Devices running stock lack market access.
  • Caching apps in your personal depot on your own hard drive protects your investment as it enables you to block and/or revert unwanted updates.
  • Not having to connect your device with a Google Account means less exposure for your credit card and therefore improved security (children are especially known for creating a financial disaster for their parents by buying gold coins and other ingame currencies by accident)!

Over in 'doze we have f.lux for making screens a LOT easier on the eyes to look at in the dark. Here in 'droid we have Twilight. The severely red tint looks WAY odd at first but in an otherwise dark room makes that screen a whole lot easier to look at.

Also like the look of this app and started to look around for the APK
Followed a trail for Whitegorilla dev to XDA and from there to a Youtube video

In the comments section - DropBox download - posted a year ago

"Hello, you can download the latest pro version of the app at http://goo.gl/xvM6e9. Google has taken down my apps due to copyright issue in one of my apps (I believe) and I have sold the contents of my company. The new owners said they are upgrading the app, and will be releasing it on the play store. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for purchasing the app."

Installed it on my phone and tablet and works perfectly - currency values get updated in real time

Hope d7e7r7 can take a rest now ;-)
