Android Useful Apps

erm, absolutely no idea what you're referring to
WhatsApp, at 2.4.6 they removed the Google drive backup feature again. While play store is back on v12 I am good for some time, not that I matters, I use WhatsApp like once or twice a week anyway

came across this, technically not an Android app but a windows app for rooting android devices, not sure if it's been mentioned here before

http://www.kingoapp.com/

I have no idea whether it's any good or not

Samsung SideSync.

Allows you to stream your Samsung phone to your PC, Mac or Tablet and operate it remotely. Also can be used as an extension to your PC to allow you to seamlessly transfer files / text between devices and acts as a secondary display.

Is there anything the Amazon app doesn't want to take control of on your phone? Nice appstore but the Amazon app itself I don't know.

Who cares? Just use an app like Greenify to hibernate it when not in use.

That goes without saying but why does it need all that access in the first place?
Because Google is intentiinally vague and bloated with its permissions, to be able to do X you need to ask for permissions to do x, y, z, 1,2,3,and 4. You want to save pics you need access too multimedia, which includes then being able to also read pics and even access your camera. So while it may of be using said permissions, it does need to ask for it in order to be able to something it does need.

How is your experience with Outlook for Android?

Mine is not great (thinking of uninstalling) - when you reply it cuts off the past message history. It doesnt download any portion of new msges when they come in, so you have to wait for it to download when you go into the message. nothing in settings. Whats your experience?

tried it for about all of 10 minutes before uninstalling, found Type Mail to be much better, probably the best mail app I've used so far

Type mail is very good, only issue I have is it doesn't update the unread mail count on the app icon or status bar notifications if the mails are read say on your computer, which means if you have a few android device and you check your mail on the computer, you have to go and clear the Type app on each device, it'll only update the read count or archive mails when opening the app. That's using push or fetch.

Never had that on the native iOS email app, it auto removed the emails and notifications if they were read else where. Is this issue with type only or all android email apps?
