Android Useful Apps

I disagree. I've tried quite a few launchers, removed all of them in the end. Then again, all my phones have run vanilla Android except my Z2 tablet- for which I have no desire to add a different launcher.

ok, maybe Bryn's generalisation was a bit much... let me rephrase on his behalf.

No Android user that knows more than Jon Snow should ever ask such a question.

How is the new Nova update different to the current Apex launcher? I have Apex Pro, and the two are similar enough that I don't want to buy Nova Pro unless it's really worth it. Quite happy with the current state of Apex.

Apex is a good launcher. No sense buying Nova if you like Apex.

Then you should have just customised the custom launchers to your liking. I could never survive without the app drawer customisation that Nova affords. Creating a separate tab in the drawer for games, setting each tab to scroll vertically and hiding all apps that are either not used or already on a homescreen is just the best. Literally every Android user I know who has seen my setup has adopted it themselves immediately. Then you factor in the awesome transition effects, control over custom icons and their size, backup facility for the entire launcher layout etc. and it's on a level above stock launchers.

+1. I also can't do without the grid spacing options & I use the swipe shortcuts a lot for all my most used apps.

Amazon having another 1 of their giveaways $110 worth of apps

Because installing a custom launcher should be the first thing any Android user does, tied with installing a new keyboard.
Would a custom launcher also remember all your icon placements on the home screens, so you can back up and move the whole setup with titanium between devices. That would be a winner.

Do you guys disable the stock launcher when you have a custom launcher like Nova loaded, because otherwise the stock launcher will still be running in the background sucking battery and resources?

The launcher backup in Nova Launcher remembers everything.

And once you've selected Nova to always by the launcher, the stock one won't run in the background.

Are any of those actually worth getting even when free?

Is there anyway to purchase them, say on the Amazon site without installing them?

Seems like the remote desktop app, normally 15 dollars is good, can use the built-in remote desktop feature in windows, no server software needs to be installed in the host pc

The Amazon Appstore app on Android is pretty painless to deal with. I just start each download and immediately cancel them if it's only something I might use in the future. The apps I've accumulated to date thanks to the free giveaways are worth a fortune, and very useful. A large chunk of them are apps I would otherwise have paid money for in the Play Store.

And yes, some of the current free apps are worth grabbing. Five Nights at Freddy's 3 (the other two have been given away on previous occasions), AVG and Bloons are great apps to get for free. Bike Race Pro also looks like an app worth adding to your Amazon account.

^ Thanks Bryn

And if you back up Nova with titanium?

No idea. I stopped using backup apps a while ago. These days all my apps back themselves up.
backed up to Google?

Tried Nova now, kills touch wiz, is Nova about the best launcher?

Also installed appdialer, awesome, very clever interface, I'd install it even just for an excellent app search for the app drawer

Likewise, hated every launcher on every android phone. I agree about keyboard though.

Not necessarily backed up to Google. Any decent app should backup your details, so that you just have to remember your login details. It's only games that seldom backup, but I don't care much more games on my phone anyway.

Different launchers appeal to different people. I prefer Nova Launcher Prime though. It's essentially a stock launcher will a gazillion customisation options.

Where do I find this?
