Android Useful Apps

I don't see a view icon at all. Also, the 'fast access' panel is always on.

Nexus 7

Oh I see, you are using a tablet, and the app is 'tablet optimised'...

You've probably done this, but if you swipe in from the right side (where the folder and file icons are) into the left, as if to close-swipe the 'fast access' panel, it doesn't close it?

You are missing other buttons than 'view' as well: search, refresh, sort, new.

This is how it looks on my Note 2:

What if you press the 'options/menu' Android button, does it close that fast access panel? On my phone it opens and closes it..

Swiping only moves me between whichever windows I've made active, in my picture that would be local, LAN and cloud. 'Fast access' remains in place.

No such luxury on the Nexus 7. Only the soft buttons you see in my pic. There's also only marginally more options in the settings than the gmail app.

Maybe you guys are beginning to see why I'm a bit miffed...

Yeah, sorry bru :-(

Sorry if I'm harping on a bit...maybe you can try zooming in by pinching fingers out. On phone version, it takes away the top and bottom bars...maybe, on the tablet version, it will also hide the persistent 'fast access' bar...

Are we still talking about ES File Explorer? I used to hate it when it was standard on the Omega ROM, but it seems it's had an update. Clean functional UI, easy switching between internal and external memory (my previous issue with it) and free. Can't fault at all.

The slow Play Store download speeds are really getting to me. I think I'm getting less than 50KB/s with GTA III. It's a 1.2GB download, so basically it will never finish.

In order for it to never finish it would need to be going at 0kbps, and as far as I know play store has a limit of like 100mb per app, thats why there are these post download updates so you should in fact not be blaming google as they have nothing to do with the 1.2GB update part, unless of course google also happens to be your ISP?

I was exaggerating. My notification tray tells me I have 5 hours left. For a download that should take little over 30 minutes. The Play Store definitely doesn't have a 100MB limit. Many, many apps are more than 100MB, and are downloaded in full upon purchase. I can blame Google, because the Play Store is crap at varsity too on a 50+Mbps connection, and because it's downloading directly from the app's listing in Google Play. I'm not updating GTA, I'm downloading from scratch.

By the way, for those of you who've been experiencing low speaker audio, like I have with my S3 on CM10.1, install Alsa Mixer - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.skvalex.alsamixer&hl=en

It will allow you to manipulate the audio to your desired level and works with DSP Manager.

I can finally hear my GPS announcements in the car...

I'm running the latest nightly on my S3 without low volume issues. In fact I think my volume levels are boosted since changing to CM - I don't think any of my levels are maxed these days.

I have struggled. All speaker audio was incredibly quiet.

Alsa gives me total control now, so I'm happy.

I did buy my S3 in Singapore though, so I'm perhaps using a slightly different "model"...

By the way, anyone found the download file for CM10.1-m2 for the S3?

There is M2-M3, snapshots on Cyanogen download section for the S3 and a variety of modded versions on XDA.

Anybody else tried MIUI or PACman, my favorites...? Choice is very limited for Sony, since nothing is actually fully working, but the custom kernels makes a huge difference in performance.

Thanks, but I get that they're around. I just can't find them. Tried googling but I keep getting back to the same damn announcement threads, which just so happen to not actually link to the download files...

Thanks! Zooming in on the file manager pane does give the options bar at the bottom (with the view button you mentioned plus of course some other very important buttons) and a breadcrumb trail at the top. At least I can get the details now.

Fast access does seem to be persistent though.

Have you checked out goo.im, its where I get all my downloads from.
Or maybe even Cyanogens official download page, if it exists it will be there otherwise its not an official Cyanogen. LINK
