Android Useful Apps

sure but what I meant was something that talks to both phones without her having to load whatsapp on her BB. actually did not know you can load whatsapp on a BB. not a BB fan!

thanks for the info.

Email. Of course you can install WA ona BB, she probably has it already anyway, having a BB without whatsapp is like having breasts without nipples, its pointless.

My understanding is that if the app has changed permissions that requires a manual update for you to agree to the new terms.

You are correct, if permissions change the user needs to re-accept them or uninstall the app, not that anyone actually takes note of that anyway.

What do you guys think of Winamp for Android? Has anyone tried the pro version?

Hi FreeStanler,

I use Winamp and find it perfect for my needs. I haven't got the pro version yet but I will probably buy it in support soon.

I use winamp and have bought pro for both pc and android. Reason for that is it's the only player I've used since I got my first pc. It's one of the VERY few applications I support. Though in honesty I'm not sure what pro for Android gives over the free version. I still love it though.

Hi FreeStanler,

Is Winamp capable of keeping files organised (folder for each artist, then album folders and then consistent file names)? I really want to ditch iTunes after the atrocious redesign, but I haven't found anything that better fulfills my requirements of a music player:

- Attractive interface
- iDevice support
- File organisation
- Excellent CD ripping (iTunes is great at 320Kbps AAC and ALAC)

I gave Winamp a try quite a while ago and I didn't see any options for library organisation, and the interface felt poorly designed. Many UI elements are repeated excessively and there wasn't a view option that I could find that gave a more 'physical weight' to your music either (like how iTunes tries to recreate the sense of owning and browsing a record collection).

Imo there's a gap in the market for a killer music player. I wish someone would step up.

Have you tried PowerAmp? My personal music player.
Does all the organising you're looking for.
Great preamp and if your music has album covers, the 'weight' you're looking for is there.

The trial version is free.
I actually went and bought the pro key.
And I'm cheap and don't ever usually buy stuff;):D

Give it a go.
Winamp's UI threw me off.
Didn't enjoy it at all on android.

Edit: iDevice support, with Android?
You're losing me there.
Or perhaps I wouldn't post first thing after waking up....

I'm talking about a desktop application, in response to Winamp being punted on all platforms. Sorry, should have been clear.

I do use Poweramp lol. It is great, and one of the most popular paid Android apps for a reason. I do wish it had a better navigation UI though - swiping between now playing, artist, album, track view etc would be great. A bit like the GoneMad Music Player. Poweramp is the best overall though - I've tried all the popular players and I uninstall them in minutes.

For Desktop try MusicBee, Tried a lot of others this one does it all.

I installed a fairly functional but useless app yesterday: WhatsApp 2Date

For some reason new WhatsApp versions don't immediately go to the Play Store.

It checks the WhatsApp site for a version more recent than the one on the Play Store and your device, and installs it.

:o

Is there an app for South African long distance bus schedules, bookings? Like City to City, Greyhound, InterCape, etc?

Yeah. It caters the least to my tastes. Very difficult to navigate and no options as to appearance.

I've found n7player to have the simplest UI of them all... Pinching in and out to navigate through songs is simple enough.

Need to try out Neutron player though- has anyone else perhaps used it?
