Thought maybe it would be a good idea to make a thread comparing the three major mobile operating systems... Maybe we can all chip in what we feel the Pro's and Con's of the operating systems...

Also, how the hardware performs on the OS... So comparing a dual core WP vs android etc...

Thought this thread could help people trying to decide between them based on personal experience and general things people like and dislike :)

Not for my personal use, I've used all three and know what I like and don't like...

This is how I currently feel:

Phones
Android> iOS, Windows

Tablets
iOS > Android

I feel you should buy phones with OS's you have the closest ties to.

For example, I've never had anything to do with Apple, so wouldn't even consider buying a product of their's, to suddenly have to start getting involved in iTunes. But, I am quite heavily involved in Google products (especially G-Mail), so consider it a better option in buying an Android (even though you can get Google products from Apple, and Microsoft mobile, to a lesser extent).

The thing about android is that it always feels buggy. Never smooth like ios. Freezes from time to time. No experience with windoze

Will ONLY consider WP having had personal experiences with this OS since the Windows CE days. Used daily for pleasure and business.

Depends on your phone. You can't blame that on 'Android'.

Any high-end Apple comparable device will not suffer from lag or freezes.

I feel iOS has the better experience...very responsive (simply through design) and slightly better apps. But it's far to restrictive.

Android the only true potential windows replacement as it allows for multitasking (although very few proper applications for this), huge strides have been made in the experience and software (but must concede that it is not at apple level yet), but the part I really love about it, is the freedom. If I want to load a movie/series/mp3 or side loaded app, I can (both a pro and a con)

Dude, youve been using the wrong Android devices then.
I have played with a colleagues 5S and its no faster than my S4 or my buddies Z1.
When comparing flagships phones to each other they are all very similar. Just dont compare a 2008 gingerbread phone to a 5S because that's just plain wrong.

Have a galaxy note 1 and comparing it to wife's iPhone 3GS

When I compare the speed of the iPhone 5 I had to the Z I had and the note 2 I have, it's all on par :)

I am pretty sure by this point we have realized that it will come down to personal preference, anything otehr than android is wrong, but the sheep wont understand that so lets not start a fight.

here is a fun little experience I have had recently. Girlfriends mother has had a BB since like the first models because it was company issued, so she was very used to the ecosystem.

when her personal upgrad rolled around she chose an S4 mini. still dont know why do that, but hey not my problem.
around the same time the company phones were changed over to iphone, so right now she has with her an iphone 5s and an s4 mini.

chatted to her last night and she hates the iphone, she says its like flogging a dead horse, apps take longer to open, webpages related to work render slower, emails take forever to open and the fact that she needs to fiddle around to find the apps she uses most annoys the k*k out of her.

on the other hand her s4 mini is all set up, with custom ringtones and widgets and she loves it, everything is where she wants it and changing the locations of icons is a major plus for her.

and before everyone harps on about how "you need to get used to using your iphone" or "if you don't set it up properly it wont work for you" just remember she got the phones within days, I don't know what phone was first but what I do know is that for her going from BB to a smartphone Android was more intuitive.

then as for WP, I have said this a few times here, we all complained about how windows messed up for at least the last 15 years, we all hate on internet explorer, and blue screens of death is no ones favourite way to go. knowing that please explain to me how it is logical that now that you have all this choice available for your phone you choose to be tortured by a windows 8 look and feel in your pocket?

then the reason android is the best for me:
root,
custom ROM,
custom launcher,
Titanium backup,
CPU controls like over and underclocking.
widgets on my screens.
Pie controls, yes this is not something that is standard with android, but I cannot live without it anymore.

also android tabs after honeycomb are better than idevices, because the iOS limitations put you in a cage, but you are so happy at the decorations in the cage you don't even see the bars.

Personally I currently prefer WP.

I've had an Android phone previously and I had endless issues with bugs in the OS, crashes, apps force closing. I'm sure it's been improved but having used WP now for the past 3 years I find it very stable, fast, smooth and the Nokia hardware is gorgeous:love:

Drawbacks of WP would probably be no notification centre(Coming in 8.1), no quick access settings(Coming in 8.1), no VPN support(Rumoured to be in 8.1), no 802.1x auth(You guessed it, 8.1)

Also the OS is very restrictive for developers in certain ways, WhatsApp only recently received the ability to send pre-recorded videos, but the restrictions are there for security reasons.

Currently there is no way to root WP devices other than a couple of Samsung phones and even then what you can do is fairly limited

The argument of it lacks apps isn't really valid any more as nearly all the big name apps are available for it now.

I won't touch anything Apple
