Angiogram costs ??

Angiogram is in-hospital, so your plan should take care of it? Am I missing something?

Ask the doctor to admit you for the night if it's a concern.

nope thats not how it works.

Was on hospital plan a few years back and wife needed an MRI its a totally separate test under a different section of the plan.

The ONLY way to get it covered under the hospital plan would be to be admitted for something to the hospital.

Unless it's a radial angiogram, how do you *not* get admitted to a hospital?
Yeah, especially for observation purposes after poking a catheter around in your heart and causing arrythmias, you'd expect them to.

Just because its administered in a hospital doesnt mean you will be covered. You can get certain dentistry done in hospital but doesnt mean it will be covered.

You have to be admitted for being sick then it will be covered.

For example having a heart attack....

Best to contact medical aid than have us speculate here and then update the post.

Agreed.

I've had bones get broken and be discharged the same day (not fun).
I've had an angiogram, but was kept for observation for two days (seemed unnecessary).

Totally down to your own health circumstances, the doctor and the policy of the medical aid.

Good luck @dunkyd

I get that.

From my own experience, it was the post-angiogram observation that required admission to a recovery ward... The catheter is inserted into an artery and you can bleed out real quick if something goes wrong.

Radial angiograms are in and out in a couple of hours 'tho.

On topic, though: a family member had a heart attack (didn’t know it at the time), and her hospital plan had somehow lapsed, so after the A&E had done their basic checks, she was advised that it would cost R50000 for additional tests (angiogram, MRI).

Had her medical aide been sorted, she would’ve been admitted and treated for the cost of her monthly premium.

Should require auth but should be covered by most medical aids
