Angry Birds for Linux campaign

Hi everyone,

There is a petition on change.org to ask Rovio to provide Linux Builds of their Angry Birds games.

This would be quite a triumph for Linux as a whole if we can convince Rovio to do this. The media coverage alone should be worth it.

Ironically, the original release of Angry Birds was on Linux for the Nokia N900 (simultaneously with the iPhone version):

When you consider, of course, that Angry Birds is available for Android, then technically there is already a Linux version

Maybe the petition should be more specific and ask for a desktop Linux version of Angry Birds.

You can play it already under Chrome?

The Chrome version does not have all the levels you find in the various titles. Besides, there are a number of titles now, including Bad Piggies and Angry Birds Star Wars II, and soon to be released is Angry Birds Go! on December 11.

I manage to run most of the games successfully under Wine by using the /extract and msi install method, except Bad Piggies. It starts, but when you play it, everything just messes up.

Linux is a kernel, as I'm sure everyone is aware of by now.
Apps can utilize certain things the kernel produces, like events, but there is no such thing as a "linux app". Third-party code for a kernel is called kernel modules.

But meh. Bring on the Linux Angry Birds app...
