Hi,

I recently received a LevelOne WBR-2401B wireless ADSL router from Germany and have up to now been unable to sync with Telkom. My original Marconi ASDL POTS modem is working ok ( given the known problems such as overheating, disconnecting... )

I believe this is due to the fact that it is a "Annex B" type modem.

So my question is :

Can it be used with Telkom at all ?
Do I need to upgrade my telephone connection to digital ISDN for it to work ?

Thanks
Michael

According to Telkom, ADSL cannot be activated on ISDN lines. If you have ISDN and want to switch to ADSL, you have to pay for them to "downgrade" the line from ISDN as part of the installation. I don't know anything about your ADSL router problems, though, someone else will have to comment on that.

Well, if that is the case, what does the following quote from the product documentation of the Marconi ADSL USB MODEM - ISDN1 at :
http://www.m-newera.co.za/product6-d.htm
mean ?

Product Types

There are two types of USB ADSL Modems offered and supported by Telkom:-

1. USB ADSL Pots ( Annex A)

2. USB ADSL Isdn ( Annex B for South Africa)
