Annoying 403 Forbidden shyte

Hi All

As with what happened to me the other day, with zoneedit.com being reduced to 403, I now discover tonight it's another site that's doing the same thing.

This time its www.419eater.com. I discovered it when I looked at a link in the Off Topic section.

Suggestions as to why this is happening suddenly as of this month?

this is not an iburst thing. i experienced it last night and asked a mate in UK to try it and he got the same thing. also at work on IS same thing happened. it appears that the site is farked... or the server it is hosted on.
 
And I didn't check the site via VPN.:( .. I ran out of time last night. Will check ASAP
 
I checked the site with Mozilla Firefox. The Web page came up with some missing bits. Once I allowed scripts on the site, the page reloaded but was forbidden.

A whole bunch of sites appear to be doing this... I've seen some reports of other sites such as www.nag.co.za also giving 403 forbidden, on the prophecy forums
 
It obviously isnt a Iburst problem. This is also happenign to people on ADSL, just check thier forums.

Must be some kind of a big problem on SAIX/IS network or just the local connections from Telkom. I wonder if it is effecting Sentech customers too, because I thought Iburst was mostly independent from SAIX for international.. yet this effects everyone.
 
I agree. I apologize then for throwing my toys out the cot... I think it is probably TELSKAM to blame again
 
haha seems so. Must be saix links...

Oh and btw, whta exactly do Iburst use SAIX links for? To transfer data between base station or from their datacentre? That is such a huge extra expense for them, they should cost tons more than ADSL with all thier costs and Telkom being linked to SAIX and all.

SAIX is part of Telkom, sort of their Internet backbone department, providing Internet access to (V)ISP's, corporations, etc, so Telkom's past and current ISP's such as Intekom, Cybertrade and TelkomSA.net along with a host of ISP's share the same infrastructure from Telkom, also connecting internationally. And all the Diginet lines that companies use are also leased from Telkom, although IS, etc, may provide the end-point facilities.

In other words, Telkom has an influence on almost every aspect of fixed connectivity.

Well, this is at least a simplified attempt to explain the dependancy on Telkom; SAIX is just a small aspect in the Telkom equation. Talk about smoke & mirrors... :rolleyes:

Maybe SA has been blacklisted from the internet, as the infrastructure is run by a bunch of monkeys? :D
 
Thanks Unchained.. but i know all that.

I was just wondering why Iburst use SAIX links, I geuss they have to hey.. but you say IS are also available, but can they do the same job as well as SIX diginet links. Those are extremley expensive, its a shame Telkom hold these guys back so much with those costs.
 
Yeah, you pay through your....nose for the diginet lyne and then Telkom has a network failure, like right now in Cape Town, that a whole bunch of lines go down and you sit there with no connection for R15000 min per month!
