When will this happen?

It has been little over 1 year since Neotel launched it's Neoconnect products. I assume that they will also need to submit their tariff adjustments to ICASA, like Telkom did today. It would really be interesting to see which way their pricing will go.

Those Telkom articles of today reminded me how much I hate Telkom & realised my only alternative is either MTN 3G/HSDPA or Neotel. I really hope that Neotel will get their act together as I really would like to support them.

There's nothing in regulation about annual tariff filings. The regulation that places a cap on Telkom's price increase is specific to Telkom, and it should be obvious why - they are the only operator that really needs it. It's Telkom's decision when and how to change their prices, and they have chosen to do it annually at this time of year. Any other operator is free to adjust their prices at any time, without any constraints, provided they file them with ICASA with sufficient notice.

Assuming that Neotel doesn't increase prices, all that means is that the gap between Telkom and Neotel will widen. Given the current inflation rate, it also means that Neotel's prices are dropping in real terms.
