The group known as Anonymous said Saturday it has hacked some 70 law enforcement websites across the southern and central United States in retaliation for the arrests of its sympathizers in the U.S. and Britain.

"We are releasing a massive amount of confidential information that is sure to embarrass, discredit and incriminate police officers across the U.S.," the group said in a statement, adding that it hoped the leak would "demonstrate the inherently corrupt nature of law enforcement using their own words" and "disrupt and sabotage their ability to communicate and terrorize communities."

This is getting stupid, only thing they are going to encourage is stricter monitoring of internet and less freedoms.
 
It's a pointless war.

These guys should go and study history and read up on "the arms race" and "escalation of hostilities"

There are no winners in such scenarios, only losers.
 
They should hack into Malema's bank accounts and release his transaction history to the public. I'm growing tired of all this secrecy surrounding public officials.

you have 2 love the arrogant American Federal Departments.

Here is a quick reason they wont win... Common sense really.

1)All the combined resources of the US federal government in regards to cyber crime is a 1000 times smaller than what a group like Anon can deliver.
2)Yes the US fed gov might have 5-10 highly skilled Grey Hats.... but still they would be out numbered. And because they are Grey Hats can easily be an Anon amongst them.
3)The cost regarding Cyber Crime division is just to great to do a man hunt for a single hacker group that has no real head/leadership.
4) Fighting and arresting Anons is only making the group stronger.
5) Also the cost involved in prosecuting 14 "hackers" and getting convictions is astronomical.

My point is that what the US government is doing is walking up an hornets nest and hitting it with a baseball bat because one lonely hornet stung them as they where sitting on a bench. Instead of having one target there will be many smaller ones ... and with a baseball bat being the incorrect tool to defend yourself with it will be a badly battered US Government that walks away from this in pain.

I support Anonymous's idea of standing for the innocent in regards to Wikileaks and also for South Africans wealth distribution/the corrupt government here.

These "hackers" are giving dictators and fearmongers all the ammunition they need to kill our freedoms/liberties. They started a fire they cannot control. They must be hunted and stopped by the online community or this is going to have severe implications for all of us. We must police the grid, not governments.
