Hi

Referring to my previous ticket, you said that my WoW latency is high, because of shaping due to network traffic.

Subsequently, I purchased a 2Gb UNSHAPED account (please refer to my account for details). Once again, latency was high (800ms - 1500ms) (actually, quite the same as my uncapped account, which is shaped). Please see the attached screenshots (including another player from South-Africa stating his latency is low (+-350ms), just to make sure that it isn't a SA internet thing).

Please refund me for the this account, as I don't believe that the account is unshaped, as stated on http://www.axxess.co.za/lite.php.

Regards,

poster

PS : I've only attached one screenshot, as your ticket system does not allow for multiple (or zip) files.

PPS : I haven't attached any screenshots, because the ticketing system online does not add my ticket if I include an attachment.

Hi

Axxess, Afrihost and all these other service providers are the same. I have a 4mb line but the speeds are terrible! I was getting better speed when I had a 384k line and using the shaped axxess service

I know have the uncapped Afrihost, the unshapped Axxess lite as well as the semi-shaped Afrihost account. I have been jumping from pillar to post to try and get some decent quality.

At the end of the day they are all runninng on IS who do not appear to have sufficient capacity at this point. Speed testing done on all shows significant latency, and extremely poor speeds.

Axxess have atleast dropped their low end uncapped solution because of this. Does it make sense for me to continue with a 4MB adsl line when I can only achieved speeds on average 200 - 300kbps?

Well they tell me that it must be Telkom issues however I somehow doubt that as I have experiences differing quality when switching between service providers. Axxess unshapped axxesslite product was running somewhat decently yesterday compared to Afrihost however today it appear to be the same.

On access site they do say that there is ongoing maintenance and I assume they have switch over the unshapped accounts onto an alternative route.

All these service providers jump onto the bandwagen to try to capture market share but none are really concerned about quality of service. They will say that the issues are somewhat out of their hands in that IS are experiencing capacity issues but why advertise a service when you know you cannot deliver.

My suggestion...Save money by sticking to the low end lines, and the capped packages as SA is not ready for the uncapped solution at present. whe the fault lies is irrelevant and we are not further from true broadband freedom then we were a year ago even with all the promises of the Seacom cable and its benefits.

I am no expert but my experience with these providers as well as general adsl quality of service leads me to conclude that we are truely far from a stable broadband experience
