Gang rape survivor warns others 18/11/2008 06:41:52
A matric girl who was drugged, assaulted and raped last week has told Eyewitness News about her traumatic ordeal and wants to use her story as a warning to others.
The 17-year-old took a break from studying on Friday and went for a walk around her neighbourhood in Horizon on the West Rand when she realised that she was being followed by two men.
The men grabbed her from behind, drugged and blindfolded her before bundling her into a car and driving her to a field where they gang raped her.
“I remember they [sic] blindfolding me with I don’t know what, and then I heard a car and that’s the last I remember. I woke up in a field covered in blood. The only reason why I’m doing this interview is because I want to give those a voice who didn’t [sic] have a voice” says the young woman.
Police are hunting for the two suspects as the young victim has urged girls not to walk alone.
