I've searched the forum and looked at various online stores and Russian YouTube vids :D

Does anyone have any recommendations? Should I go for a Chinese brand or get something with a proper warranty like a Transcend?

What happens? Do they just melt or die?
Until you've held the unit in front of the aircon they just switch on and off on and off on and off on and off on and off on and off on and off on and off....................

The sucktion cup holders tend to stretch and start hanging and the unit, when cool, sways or vibrates too much.

Do you live in strand? I would maybe like to get one if you are

Hi, no I am from GP. But you can order from TopCCTV, they deliver very quick. Although I am not sure if they are open now or when they will be back from leave.

Myself and a mate have had a Mobius ActionCam with the Wide Angle Lens in our vehicles for the last year. Works brilliantly and is compact with 1080p.

There is the option to use a capacitor if you wish to replace the battery, just need to open it and replace (voids warranty though) but I'm in Durban and my car is outside 70% of the time and I've had 0 issues with the battery (but I did buy the capacitor if I ever wanted to use it).

This model allows you to detach the camera from the mount, so if I park in the sun that is what I do. Although I park undercover 99% of the time. If you require a dashcam that is better at withstanding the heat, you need one with a capacitor and not a battery and one that attaches with double-sided (3M) tape is better than the one with a suction cup, but then you can't remove it as quickly.

I had two GS98C's that I imported from China and they both broke down within the first week, so local support is important. These ones that TopCCTV sells have a 1 year guarantee, so that should give you some peace of mind.

And you don't have to shop at TopCCTV, I am a registered dealer with them, so I get a better price.
You can also buy the same model at:

http://www.animalgear.co.za/eagleye-full-hd-1080p-v2-dash-cam-with-gps-logger-g-sensor
or just google Eagle Eye Dash Cam V2. :)

For interest sake, you can find sample videos here:

But there are also other thing to consider like resolution (4K vs 1080P vs 720P), FPS (30fps vs 60fps), GPS enabled, one camera or two, quality of night time video, field of view, clarity of sound recording, price, etc.

Another recommendation that I can make is to buy a good quality micro SD card. I always buy the Samsung EVO range and never had any issues with them. They are a lot quicker than other class 10 cards with writing HD video and they are more tolerant to the warm environment.

Please PM pricing. I'm in JHB and might just be keen for one or two
