Hi,

In the same boat as many of you now :( :( :(

I tried to help my brother by formatting his PC. His external with all his data with all his data was plugged in and I deleted the partion by mistake. He's lost EVERYTHING.

Is there anything to try and recover? Restore the partition? Or do I have to resort to the data recoverers that you most you guys did?

There's a way to recover it
Download a .iso called Hiren's bootCD. It has a bunch of bootable utilities. I'm sure you'll be able to find one that can restore a deleted partition.

Jägermeiʃter time?

You should be able to recover the files with software, just do not install anything to that drive & do not recover to that drive! You have to install and recover to a different drive.

You might have to remove the drive from the case and connect it to the pc via sata/pata.

Sent you PM.

Thanks so much for the PM's :)

I managed to find software that did it within two clicks - absolutley awesome stuff. So, I managed to mount the partion and in the process of copying everything back.

And yea - my brother did know ... hehe. Very cool about it when he thought it was all gone. 'Don't worry - just a mistake ... only a few pictures.' but I could see the cogs turning as to how far back he'd lost in terms of photos ;)
