MIDRAND - An African National Congress (ANC) councillor who caused an accident in Midrand, north of Johannesburg on Wednesday night was charged with drunken driving, police confirmed.

Kuthula Mamba who is a councillor from Khayelitsa, Cape Town, allegedly crashed his BMW into two stationary vehicles at a traffic light.

No one was seriously injured in the accident.

Police are still investigating the incident.

It is believed Mamba is in Johannesburg for the ANC's policy conference at Gallagher Estate in Midrand.

Henry Ndlovu said he was with his wife and child when Mamba crashed into his car from behind.

“[Mamba] was so drunk. He had a tag around his neck for the ANC conference. My wife and kids screamed, but I could not do anything.”

Police spokesperson Matomela Dlamela said Mamba is expected to appear at the Midrand Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

“He was arrested immediately and charged with drunk driving.”

And these are the fools that want to ban alcohol advertising - oops I forgot they don't need advertising on booz as they are already too well briefed on that subject. Also wasn't the ANC going to ban liquor at their gatherings?
I want to see if he gets the wroth of the courts? (I doubt it)

Typical... if the ANC aren't drunk with power, they are drunk with real booze. Fortunately nobody got killed or injured in this case because if they did you can be sure there would be no justice!

ah driving a Beautiful Marxist Wagon (BMW) as well, totally putting the poor first!

He wasn't drunk, he was just post previously sober deprived.

It's his constitutional RIGHT to drink Johnny Walker Blue Lable.

If it wasn't, he would DEMAND it to be.
