I hope I can even explain this :

Sheet 1 is a full list of numbers
Sheet 2 is some of those numbers in sheet 1

Any easy way to get the numbers from sheet 2, to highlight in sheet 1, please?

Couldn't you use conditional formatting, where the criteria is that the cell contains a certain value and then reference the cells in sheet 2 for that value?

Yup, seems with excel you can point directly to other sheets.

I just did something like this a few hours ago. With a text input field to highlight on a different sheet

Works even if the "yes" part of that formula is a cell reference. So OP can select that cell in sheet 2 containing the number and it will find it in sheet 1

It's something like :

Sheet 1

SDR238HTS
SDF123TYG
PLO887GTH
GRT566BHT

Sheet 2

SDF123TYG
PLO887GTH

On sheet 2. Next to each "number" input "yes"

Then go to sheet 1, do a vlookup and the filter all the "yes"

You can then highlight all the cells that contains "yes" and delete the formula
