Bloemfontein - An elderly couple was found dead on the farm Somerset near Parys, police said on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Colonel Thandi Mbambo said the couple's bodies were found in a tuck shop they ran from a garage on the farm.

"The husband was found on the floor of the tuck shop, with his feet tied and head covered with a material sack."

The body of the woman, aged between 70 and 75, was found tucked into a freezer.

Tuckshops are needed- the nearest town can be miles away- having some place to congregate and buy some basics is appreciated I'm sure...

/Until they kill the owners that is :mad:

As motivated as any other murder I'd imagine, probably a bit more seeing as they get a lot more focus in the media.

Yeah figured just thought the wording was odd. Haven't heard of a tuck shop outside of school.
 
What I am saying is how many of all the incidents have been convicted?
I still doubt there is any will to stop these brutal killing or else the commandos would be back in action and the killings would stop.
GVT and the SAPS could care less

If the correct people are caught I'd imagine the conviction rate to be quite high. Doesn't address the issue though unfortunately. Having the Commandos back would be great but they shot themselves in the foot with all the trouble they caused towards the end.
 
I sometimes wonder if elderly people are not selected because they were douche bags during the Apartheid era? Anyway, just a thought.

Having said that, I know of a factory owner that was brutally murdered by two of his employees. They came to his house and he let them in. When asked why they did it, they simply said, "Because he let us in!" They tortured him all night.

I can understand robbery because of the state of our nation, but all this murder is just senseless.

No, They are targeted because they are weak. and the criminals that do this are cowards. No more reading into it is required.

Yeah, the most openly racist people I know are the elderly, doesn't mean they deserve anything more than a verbal scolding if they're inappropriate in public. Nobody short of those who perpetrate these types of crimes are deserving of them.

Openly racist? We're talking about 70-year old people that lived almost 2/3rd's of their life under the apartheid regime, much like the current ANC regime we have at the moment, and they just suddenly changed after a lifetime of breeding? People did horrible things back then, still do, and it's hard to forget the wrongs against you when you were not in a position to do anything about it.

The TRC was a nice gesture, but we have to kill generations of hatred before we can even start with that ideal.
 
I thought it was mostly the youth doing the killing who didn't live under apartheid? Anyway criminals are opportunistic and so when they knew or saw the old people they realised it would probably be an easy job.

Is it safe to assume, this was another inter racial murder to get rid of old, 'racist' whites? This is the impression I get after reading Fudzy's reply. Is it safe to assume that Fudzy is a South African of African origin? If indeed he is then God bless you all :( WTF
