3 months ago before moving into my new place I called up Telkom to ask if they have ADSL in the area, they informed me it supports up to 4mb. So set the ball rolling after I move in to get the line installled, only to be informed there is no open voice lines in the area and no plans to install any in the area until April 2013. They took my details and recommended I go on a promo they are running that include line + 2mb adsl + data and free installation. Then after the installation I can convert it to what ever I want. I made sure its a month to month thing and NOT a contract since I don't know how long I'll be living in the new place

So a month ago I get a call saying a line has opened up and they will be doing the installation in 2 weeks. Monday (4 weeks later) they come to my premise, install a new line, test it, everything works 100% and hand me a new router and tell me to go to Telkom store to get my ADSL account details. Get there the next morning and the lady tells me to sign a 24 month contract. I told her at no point did I agree to a contract and that its impossible. So call Telkom they tell me to bring back the modem as its part of the package that I do not want now.

So that night plug in my own router, buy a Afrihost 2mb uncapped account, everything works brilliantly. Next morning take back their router and they inform me everything is now cancelled and I have to re apply for a line :wtf:.

Just got off the phone with a lady telling me the promo I signed up for 3 months ago has expired and is now a 24 month contract. At no point was I informed of this. As luck would have it, the line was assigned to somebody else and I'm now back in the waiting list for April 2013.

So effectively I had ADSL for 1 night and its costed me R900 so far.:erm:

I signed up for 3 months of free uncapped internet, after this promotion, i was to start paying, should i continue using the service, the package i choose (8 gig - Wich is nowadays 10gig).

Next thing i see, only local websites are loading, i call Telkom, "You're capped" i say that's impossible, they then say that the deal is over and i was going to have 3 months of free 8 gig instead.

I could not believe the intense amount of stupidity i had just encountered.

After that, we had to pay thousands of rands each month.

Telkom... simply incompetent.
Hmmm... they are the true scammers!
