Ok i know this question has been asked over and over but i can get the Gainward GeForce 6600GT 256MB GS (CRT+TV+DVI) : PCI-E for R1 916.48

and also the GECUBE ATI Radeon X800XL 256MB for the same price ive got an sli ready mobo but what will be the best option to go for now cos they both cost the same price ???

Person, please stop talking rubbish.

The X800XL is much better than the Geforce 6600GT.

The X800XL is equal to the Geforce 6800GT.

Umm please look at the makes... the Gigabyte card a 6600GT has i higher 3dmark score than the lower X800 (XL) in a GECUBE brand.

X800XL is below a X800 and the X800 is = to the 6600GT GS cards
Therefor the 6000GT would be better than the XL card and would be the better buy.

The XL card should also be R200 cheaper than the 6600GT acording to my prices.

ok i just saw the results and those on tweaktown are very impressive but i only looked on thg and couldnt find anything on the gecube cards another thing i got an nforce 4 sli mobo so would it be better to go for the 6600gt with sli in the longrun ??

Doesn't the Radeon have better speed but the Geforce more "special options onboard" By looking at tests.

Then again...Radeons have always been like that.

Again it all come down to make...

At stock speed, the ATi Radeon X800 XL is not quite able to break the 5k barrier but when overclocked, it's almost as fast as the high end MSI X800 XT. Not bad for a "value" card!

X800 - 6600
X850 - 6800
X1800 - 7800

Radeon X800 XL R430 256MB DX 9.0b 400 1000 256 bit 16
GeForce 6600 GT NV43 128MB DX 9.0c 500 1000 128 bit 16

Lets add it up:

Newer Tech
Option of Sli
Higher clock speeds
Better 3dmark 05 scores at stock speeds
Based on the newer DirectX
Well Known Brand

For ATi
More RAM
256bit
Better clocked speeds in 3dmark05

My Question to you Dominic, what card do you have ?

Person: Geforce 6800GT.

Of course if Digital Soldier is going to get another 6600GT, then of course buy the 6600GT.

But the X800XL remains better in a single-card configuration.

Better 3dmark 05 scores at stock speeds
Link?

Well Known Brand
Yeah, but Digital Soldier can easily change it to a Sapphire, making that point invalid.

No he cant because then i wont be the same price.... What type of card are you running ?

I've already said that: Geforce 6800GT AGP.

Well it might not be the same price (probably differ +-R200) but it will be a reliable brand.

XFX GeForce 6600 GDDR2,Very nice and I'm not sure bout the pricing but should cost around the same price, memory frequency now at 800 stock because of the new memory, seeing in reviews it can pump up to 550/900+ stock cooling....
If you are buying a new card, and you are tight on budget and it is available then this is the steal to get,IMHO,not those two cards you are looking at.Just a real honest opinion mate.

Person has been wrong many times before and regarding the 6600GT and X800XL situation he sticks to his usual form, being wrong again.

From all the cards mentioned the Gainward 6800GS that Dominic linked is the best option. It will give the same speeds as a 6800GT and sometimes even better speeds.

It has 256mb ram where the card person linked has only 128 which will be a problem when running high res with AA and AF on.

Anyhoo the Gainward 6800GS for the win

XFX GeForce 6800 GS Edition (XXX) 256-bit GDDR3 128MB 425MHz 1000MHz R 2359 .00 incl

If you got money get the above....This is seriously a good Gfix card. The only difference with the EXTREME Edition is the 256mb Ram.
Extreme is below...

- 485MHz Core Engine Clock speed
- 256MB 1100MHz high speed GDDR3 memory
- Superscalar 12-Pipe GPU Architecture
- High-Speed DDR 256-bit Memory Interface
- Dual 400MHz RAMDACs
- SLI Multi-GPU Support
- ATX v2.0 compliant PSU Required for PCI-E Graphics/Motherboard

It has got flawless reviews and even compares to 7800Gt's on some benchmarks. Has nice bundle too, although i dunno if SA one comes with it?

Have a look at that Table :D *For non Extreme*

I personally would go for the XFX 6800 GS XXX
