Myadsl regs will be aware of the issues people have had with SAOL and the somewhat questionable responses by their employee on this forum.
Well after getting our ADSL line in october we got one of SAOLs 30 gig accounts for R350 p/m (if I remember correctly). In november of course Telkom had their pricing change, but we stuck with SAOL because we were told their existing customers would be allowed to stay on the 30 gig option until further notice.
Further notice came at the end of the month when we were told that the 30 gig account was no longer an option. So we cancelled with them and have since had 2 telkom accounts and are now with Openweb since last month.
I might add that we never had any problems with our SAOL account or with their service.
Except that all of a sudden our account was debitted yesterday by them for R499.
First off you have to question the accounting practices of a company that suddenly starts debitting the bank accounts of non-customers, but its easy enough to write it off as a mistake, albeit highly unusual. The real problem with this very unproffesional company arises when you try to get your money( that they have technically stolen) back.
My fiance phoned them this morning at 8 o'clock and spoke to Anusia Chetty, who told her that she would find out what happened and get back to her in the next few minutes. Unsuprisingly we had to get back to them half an hour later because she hadnt bothered to do a damn thing about it. So it was a case of she would look into it and get back to my fiance. By 11 she hadnt bothered yet again although she claims to have sent an sms ( which still hasnt been recieved).
To cut a long story short, what was SAOL s response to debitting R499 from someone who hasn't been a customer of theirs for 4 months?
You will be refunded in 30 days.
No explanation.
Screw you SAOL, we'll be reversing the debit order ourselves. Of course theres nothing we can do about the bank charges, we'll consider those stolen by you.
Anyone who is a customer or who has ever been a customer of SAOL would be advised to check their statements to make sure that there havent been any suspicious debits made.
Anyone considering doing business with SAOL think again, their service is known to be bad, their attitude towards their customers and the public is contemptious and their business ethics are questionable.
