I am looking to spend R2000 rand on a graphics card, it has to be pci xpress.
What would be the best value for money?

Thanks in advance
Wesley

My friend has the XFX and its mem is clocked at 1200 from the factory so its also a very nice card, I got a Gigabyte 6600GT and it's also very good.
Dont go with the Sparkle or Legend brands tho

One might be able to get an ATI X800 for below R2000 pretty soon. It seems to be touching that price point, so the X800 might be taking over from the 6600GT for the mid range sweat spot.

I don't have those cards, or the Sparkle. I've still got a Radeon.

What is wrong with the Sparkle ? A mate of mine's got one.

Not 100% sure about them(sparkle, legend), i did look at them a while back.
If my memory serves me correctly they have:

Cheap memory
Lower clock speeds
Poor Cooling

Only buy the cheap brands if you're buying a cheap card... I got my 5500 for R150 cheaper because it's a cheap brand. It's too slow to make a difference peroformance wise; it performs as badly as all the 5500's :P

Got a 7800GTX sparkle, overclocks further and scores higher than my buddies gainward. suppose he has an Intel :)

With just overclocking GFX card i can get it to just past 9300 3D marks in 05
