Bought a hard disk from Cyberdyne. Had a problem with it, they told me 1-2 month waiting period as they had to send it overseas for replacement.

Wont be buying from them again....

I would've thought that someone in your line of business could get it cheaper yourself than buy from a "competitor"

Needed one in a rush, and the local pricing on HDD's is actually quite good.

Are WD HDD good buys? I'm interested in that HDD and had bad experiences with Maxtors.

Good and bad hdds can be in any brand, just the good brands have less bad ones.

But personally I think seagates the best, had a 1.2gig seagate for 13 years now and it still works! Its just damn loud though.
My 4gig maxtor died after 2 years, and 10gig WD died after 3 years...

But like i said, its the luck of draw actually...

Some people buy from them with the intention of reselling, so it makes it easier for Vat calculation after a markup, as the reseller is only responsible for paying VAT to SARS on his markup.

They are apparently a distributer/supplier selling direct to the public, those guys usually work ex VAT.

The shipping costs suck, what stops them using a normal courier service for R40-R80?
