I am currecntly using a 3year old Dell Latitude E6510. this machine has given me endless crap and since the dell support period is now over I think it is time for a new one.

I do a lot of development, have to run a win XP vm for testing from time to time. I would prefer a machine with two hard drive slots as I already have a new SSD. I also would prefer a machine running at 1600X900 or higher. This machine should be able to last atleast 3 years working 12 hours a day.

Budget is about 15k but I am flexible. I am looking at getting a Dell Vostro 3560 (for support) or a lenovo T530 or W530.

I was considering this but I am wary of the support: http://www.laptopdirect.co.za/laptop_specifications.php?laptop=66144

Any suggestions?

Support from ASUS or laptopdirect, most of the community here like laptop direct, I personally can not comment on their after sales support.

Any suggestions?

Has anyone used these guys before?

Never heard of them.

The laptop you posted above is pretty awesome.

www.comx.co.za
is where you can order online and sometimes even configure what you want. A Mecer W270ESQ or W370ET may suit you best and you will have much change left from R15k. You can even order with no OS and install your own.

comx and laptopdirect is the same business.

OP, if you need to dual HDD bays then the ASUS is pretty much your best bet. They have good local support and the fetch-repair-return service is really speedy. Mecer's W370 is an option, but support is limited to Mecer and I don't know about warranty extensions.

If you're interested in something a little better, though, I'd highly suggest you take a look at the AKill 170. It's pretty much a cheaper Alienware M17 from the Sager family. Local warranty is handled by AKill and when I chatted to them at rAge 2012 they said they had a fetch-repair-return service planned for their customers. You could give them a call and see what it's all about. It has space for two 2.5" drives, a mSATA SSD and I'm certain that Sager sells a Ultrabay replacement for the DVD drive, so you could stuff even more storage space in there.
