I am really hoping that there is an ADSL expert out there that can help me figure out what the hell is going on with my line before I actually get unhinged and break something!

I have a 10 Meg Line running an Afrihost Capped sub. I get terribly intermittent service, especially from around 18:00 in the afternoon and weekends are the worst. I live in Nigel which is a small town on the East Rand, and I am really doubtful that it could be exchange congestion. At this very moment I am speed testing 200+ms Ping and 0.3 Mbps download. Battlefield 4 is of course totally poked. The weird part is that a modem reset sometimes helps for a little while. I will struggle with the line for a while and later I will get great speeds again with 10ms Ping and 8.7+ Mbps...

I have tried the following:

1: Swapped routers for a known working one
2: Connected directly to the router by Cat5 cable
3: Changed Wifi password and reset router
4: Port reset from 10210 (twice)
5: Made sure that there was nothing connected to the router except cellphone, to run speed test
6: Logged a call only to be told that the line is 100%

For the experts: A tracert to MyBB

Try a trial account from one of the other ISPs.
It looks like the network you are on is terribly slow so using a different ISP could show an improvement.

The second and third hops are indicative of exchange congestion. Afrihost capped isn't shaped or throttled as far as I know, since I use that same account.

Hang on a second. You are racking up CRC errors up and down. That indicates packet loss in both directions. Although exchange congestion might play a part here first get your connection to the exchange sorted.

Replace your filter boxes on all your analog phones in the house (You do have them right?) It's cheap enough.
Also disconnect anything that might be at fault and only connect your modem to the line with a short lead - you can reconnect the rest after you eliminated that nothing you own is causing the problem. Is there an Audible hum on the line or a hiss or crackle if you use the analog side? Let Telkom fix it. Report it till they find and fix it.

If the above doesn't improve the situation;
I recommend dropping the speed down to 8Mbps (or even 6) and see if you can't get your SNR above 12. (Above 9 is Ok-ish, really you want it above 12) This is not what you want to hear, but a proper 6Mbps line is better than a non working 10Mbps line. (You can get a 6Mbps business ADSL for the price of your 10Mbps Semi-Shaped Uncapped)
Your Line attenuation is perfect (For those that don't know it needs to be below 50)

Thanks for the advice guys, I have finally gotten through to a local tech support guy and he agrees that there is a problem on the line, he is looking into the Dslam and I hope there will be resolution tomorrow.

Cheers will post any updates

Thanks, some good info here... May I ask how you see the CRC errors? And also do you think running the line straight in to the wall jack without a filter could cause all of this? I don't have any phones connected.
