Another Hijacking in our area

Everywhere

Sadly, its not only Midrand. It's everywhere - people are getting desperate now. My parents were hijacked 2 weeks back... probably by students that needed to pay fees

Sorry to hear, I had a shooting at my house 4 weeks ago. Dont want to elaborate but the guys got away.
Midrand is on fire, I can hear the helicopter now, looking for the car, what worries me is that it seems the safe house is in the area

Getting Hijacked changed my life forever , its now been 3 years but the ordeal plays through my head again & again. I did not go for trauma councelling so I would recom that.

A previous work colleague, a Brit that had made South Africa his home, and a power boiler consultant was pulling out his Joburg suburbs driveway early in the morning and the highjiacked him in 1996. They startled him knocking on his window with a firearm, and his reaction of backing away must have lead them to think he was going for a firearm and they opened fire riddling his new small Merc 190 and him with bullets.
He just survived, and stayed in SA for some time but the hijacking was on the increase and it just freaked him out too much, leaving him no choice but to return to the UK.

The police have to start patrolling the streets 24/7... This is country quickly becoming a war zone!

2 units in our townhouse complex (Florida Hills/Bergbron area) were robbed by 4 armed guys. About a month ago, 25 armed men robbed the Spar in Bergbron. Its Xmas time for robbers.

i think this country is still a little far from warzone :) crime ridden and poverty stricken, but not a war zone

They recovered the car, 2 roads down.
Be careful, these guys were not even following the couple, they were in front of them, I suppose they will be back

So they hijack a car, the cops then got the call scrambled a chopper and found them 2 roads down?

Makes no sense. How do cops respond that fast and find the car 2 roads down?

Hells bells, hectic stuff guys. Must admit I admire people that still live it out in SA. And there are some on here saying its not a war zone. Looking at this thread, its worse...:erm:

Was hijacked in 2001 , it leaves you eventually. Although I think if I was still in SA I would never have gotten over it. Took a few years of NZ to finally put that experience to rest once and for all. Unless of course, when I am in SA for holiday. Then the experience returns!

Midrand police are useless
Was hijacked in midrand about 2 months ago
Still waiting to be interviewed by a detective from Midrand, I guess not going to happen
Car is currently at the panel beaters, being fixed from damage caused in the police pound.
Next time will not bother to report it, will just get tracker to bring it back to me, the police are completely and utterly useless.

Sometimes I think that's precisely what the police want.
