Hi all,

As the title says, I am needing a new PC. I am not sure what to even look at, I am so out of date with the latest stuff.

My budget is R7000 and I would like to play games occasionally but it doesn't need to be the latest games set on maximum.

Is there anything I should maybe wait for until next year? I was thinking of getting something before the end of the year.

I came across http://www.evetech.co.za/ - they seem to have decent systems already built. Not sure if it would be cheaper individually. I also don't want to build it up myself, I don't trust myself anymore. :p

Thanks!

You can ask Rebel Tech to build the system for you before they send it to you, but I personally would do it myself just for peace of mind and because it's dead simple these days.

The rules of thumb is prebuilt PC's are usually more expensive than if you built it yourself.

I'm a little out of the loop myself on what's what, but you are looking for something more or less like this:

Case: Pick one

PSU: R1,059
Corsair CX750

Motherboard: R1,107
ASRock Z77 PRO3, all-in-one LGA1155

CPU: R1,932
Intel Core i5-3330

RAM: R417
Corsair CMV8GX3M2A1333C9 , value select , 4Gb x 2 kit , ddr3-1333

GPU: (R1500)
Gigabyte HD7770

Hard Drive: R797
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALX, 1TB/1000GB, SATA6G, 7200rpm , 32mb cache

DVD-ROM: R163
LG GH24NS90, 24x SATA

Total: (excluding GPU and case)
R5475 + R75 (shipping)

I realize that you will be about R300 over budget, so you could downgrade something if you feel you don't need it.

Thank you very much for this! That looks pretty good to me.

Would it be worth it to get a SSD instead? I already have a 1TB drive but it is about a year and a half old.

Evetech is a good choice, but they are overpriced on several items in any of their PC builds. For seven grand, this is what I'd build:

Intel Core i5-3330 @ R1932
MSI H77MA-G43 @ R888
TEAM Xtreem Dark DDR3-1600 @ R400
ASUS Radeon HD7770 2GB DDR5 @ R2053 (or PNY GTX650 Ti XLR8 1GB DDR5 @ R1691)
TEAM Xtreem S2 120GB SSD @ R1009
LG GH24NS90 24x DVD-RW @ R163
Cooler Master Elite 344 @ R283
Cooler Master eXtreme Power Plus 500W @ R482
Total: R7210

That's as low as I'd go for seven grand. You can substitute the HD7770 for the GTX650 Ti I've linked if you can't afford to go over budget. I'd highly recommend, though, getting a little bit more money to bag in the MSI HD7850 Twin Frozr, it would be a much more favourable pairing if you'd like your games to run quicker at 1080p with high settings an 4x AA.

You could also drop the SSD for a new 500GB boot drive and put the money saved towards the HD7850, if that takes your fancy.
