Another life

In the Series thread, where this show was also discussed, I also said after watching just the trailer that this will be kuk and not worth the time...

I must admit after watching episodes 4 and 5 last night, that 4 was silly and 5 just plain corny. But then I watched the last two episodes of Star Trek Discovery and decided it was even worse. I can't believe how bad the story line got there.

So I will carry on watching, there are some good moments in Another Life, and is entertaining - despite all its flaws.

Luckily I have at least 15 other series that I can watch that is better than wasting my time with crap like this...

Well, I have more - so there ;) Good thing we can each choose how we waste our time.

So why don't you watch the other better series then?

Because I'm currently entertained by this one.

I have a strange way of watching series. I don't binge like most, but chop and change between series all the time. Currently watching about half a dozen or more at same time. Like I said, I only finished Discovery last night. And I don't have to watch religiously. I'm only on S3 of Game of Thrones, for example.

It's a split between the interesting science/alien stuff happening on Earth...eventually....takes it time..

And the Prometheus-level stupidity on the ship. Where every episode seems to be "how will we kill everyone today"

This thing happened as a fault of this guy and almost killed everyone.
Let's ignore that and do the exact same thing again in a later episode.

I ended up skipping a lot.

I am disappointed in myself for seeing the entire season through. Even more so for staying up so late this morning watching the final episode :(

They really pushed the emotions and feelings of almost every character right from the beginning - I don't watch sci-fi's to get my soapie kicks. The storyline had a lot of potential, but you could see what was coming at the end from a mile away. Predictable AF. There was nothing new, a lot of the episode plots felt like rehashed Star Trek episodes, but slower. It felt like there were no plot twists at all.

The one thing I'll give it is the CGI is quite good in places. You can see where they spent money (and also where they didn't).

I love how their hazard suits have a helmet with just a loose flap that lies on the shoulders. It's as airtight as my wallet.

Better than 99% of the Sci-Fi on TV nowadays.

Sadly, it's hard to disagree with you. As a few have stated, Another Life doesn't have very original plot lines. The problem is, how many do? It seems most themes have been explored.

I have enjoyed another life for a few, in my opinion, gem moments. SPOILER ALERT BELOW!

For example, Nico kicking the hot headed mutineer into the *whatever* that killed him. I just loved the darkness and reality of that moment. I often watch any type of movie and series and say to myself - just kill the frikken tosser you numbwits! Maybe I'm an unaware psychopath...

The swearing - don't often see/hear the captain of a starship vessel going "f#*k"or "mo$%er fu#$er"in a series. Even Battlestar Galactica used "frak"instead.

Lovely CGI - the central nervous system abandoning ship from the girl was pretty gruesome.

Anyway, the CGI is great - but that's where they seemed to have spent all their money. Some of the physical props are horrendously laughable.
