I know that you can turn your Iphone 4 into a wireless hotspot with the release of IOs 4.3, but is it possible for us here in SA? Using MTN.

Just get a cheap nokia with symbian s60 and then get joikuspot, then attach the brick to the back of your iphone with double-sided tape and you now have a device with dual screens and dual sim cards, and wifi-tethering! Also, if you get mugged in the street, you can offer the brick to the robber and convince him that the iphone is not worth the trouble because it can't tether.

Haven't upgraded yet, but can't see why not
AT&T are having issues with the users on the old unlimited data plans, whisk they are trying to force onto more expensive plans now, http://b1t.co.za/d but we are paying normal prices for data anyways

Yes. I tried it out when 4.3 was released, but haven't used it since.

The issue is only with AT&T where people have free data plans. There's only so much you might want to download on your iPhone, but people might cripple the AT&T network (even further) if they could tether a laptop or PC and get free downloads over 3G.

Not useful at all.

Yes it is, on the iphone 4 go to settings>general>network

Thank you, this is what I wanted.

From what I understand with MyWi, is that your phone has to be jailbroken.

Easy as pie, works with at no extra cost on my iPhone 4 on MTN - very easy to setup.

Works perfect with MTN. Tried it on Saturday, turned it on on my iPhone 4 and told my friend using some nokia try it out. He turned his wifi on and there my iPhone showed up, entered the password and worked within seconds. Very happy that it worked without the usual hassle.
