I need so help with network bridging and internet sharing on windows 7.

I have a desktop that has an internet connection and a usb wifi adapter(D-Link).

On the Internet Connection Options I set it to sharing and select the wifi device as the shared medium.

Now I connect a laptop over the wireless network to the desktop and I can share the internet connection, no problem.

The problem starts when I make a bridged connection on the laptop with it's Ethernet and Wireless connection, and connect another desktop to the wireless with an cross over LAN cable.

The desktop with the modem can be seen on the desktop that is connected to the laptop, but for some reason, as soon as I make the bridge connection on the laptop, neither the laptop or the desktop connected to it has internet access.

It is if the Bridge is blocking the internet access.

Is there any solution, without buying any other hardware or moving the internet connection to the laptop.

Your help is appreciated

Hi There,
network bridging is not one of my best strengths but I have access to a colleague who is better than me.
This was his comment
'Bridge connections are seen as "insulated" connections and you can't share other parts of the network.
However if you were using a switch you problems should be solved since cross-over connection will connect only peer-to-peer'

So I guess a switch is going to have to be an investment that you will have to make.

Regards

Tim

Maybe I should finish my coffee first, so I'll rather ask you first what you're actually trying to achieve?

Because if I read correctly, if you replace the wifi adapter with a router and plug all your devices into it you should be sorted
