Hi Guys,

I wanna OC my cpu to 3.6Ghz. There are 2 ways to do this.

1. Increase the multi to 18x
2. Increase the FSB to 240

Which is the safest?

First try getting a high fsb in order to see what your pc is capable of, then revert back to stock and increase the multi until the pc becomes unstable, then revert to the most stable multi and begin increasing fsb

Like I said, I just want 3.6Ghz. I assume with both options I might have to increase the volts?

fkkn nice case u got there sharkb8

TY. :D

I think I am going to stay away from OCing for now, cause with the current cooler(Hyper TX2), in GTA4, my cpu is sitting at 50... Will upgrade soon to better cooling or go back to water cooling, but then I want the Cosmos S first. :p

Cosmos S.
Hmm I wanted that but the reviews were not too good so I passed.

I just want it, cause the water cooling kit I will take is the CM Aquagate max(had it before) and I know it fits nicely in this Cosmos. Radiator doesn't fit in my case. :(

My advice if you go Watercooled buy something good and not thoose Bull**** kits you get from Thermaltake and CM! You can allways fit a radiator on the outside and/or even passiv cool it. Or wait another month and buy a new case. I have a Q6600 @ 3,6 Ghz that gets 38-44°C max and idles at 29°C. With that CM or TT Kit you'll be looking @ ~50°C

Look at his sig

Oh right, dame Sharkbait! When did you upgrade?

I know jack about the new Phenoms so cant give out no advice.

Why not try it like the Oc teams, get a pot, buy a tank of liquid nitro and OC it to 6ghz+ then try GTA4 :p

Anyways 50 degrees during GTA4 isnt high at all, it'll probably be just a degree or two more once you OC it to 3.6ghz...why not try it out?

I have faith in the HyperTX2 :D

Like I said, I had the CM kit and cooled my E8400 @ 3.6Ghz + 2x 8800GTX OCed to Ultra speeds and under load my cpu was like ~35, so I do trust that kit.

Last week. :D

Bit out of reach with my budget. :p

A friend found this thread for me and from the looks of it, any OC shoots the temps up and from what I have read, max temps for these CPUs are 62...

Ok damn...never thought the Phenoms would run so hot and die at such low temp.

U better get the water cooling kit then...

But why not try OC it by 2 - 300mhz and tell us the degree it increased by?
