So I'm afraid I'm off to the dark side. Had enough of increasingly worsening latencies and Ibursts generally slow reaction to the changing internet landscape in South Africa. It is a shame because I was so bullish about Iburst, and have been with them since inception, but with their involvement with Vodacom I see no movement from them except increasing their number of base stations, which has no impact on me. Additionally, their new increased throttling of anything p2p has irritated me as well as their non-sensical propoganda which they continually sprout to the media.

So adious amigos, I'll be out of Iburst and into DSL in a month ;)

I must thank iBurst for their crappy service, because they made me shop around for a better solution.

Now I'm on Vodacom HSDPA, with the Vodacom tower in my backyard. :)

... and another one gone.

I have just faxed thru my iBurst cancellation form and have ordered a 1meg line from Telkom. Two years of this *** is enough. The only time I enjoyed my iBurst was when I first got it and I lived about 200 metres away from the tower. Things deteriorated steadily as time went on and more users connected, and since I moved, the experience has literally given me grey hairs!!!

Enough is enough. Bye iBurst, catch you never !

Well if it continues at this rate, I will soon be the only one left - might then even get some of the bandwidth iBurst so loves to advertise...

If it continues at this rate they might as well start taking the towers down.

I'm not even going to sell my modem to another "sucker" as it'll feel like stealing from the poor guy.
At the end of the month it'll join all the other obsolete PC equipment in my outside room as a grim reminder of the expensive mistake I made a few years ago.:D

it amazes me the way iburst have no answer to anyones issues or problems?
I am waiting to see what happens in August, Telkom have lowered ADSL pricing again, ISP's should follow suite. I wonder if i Burst will do anything? Somehow i doubt it..

iBurst you not competitivr anymore.. and you seem to have no intention of ever being again. It's a shame...

Have you not been happy with iBurst the whole time you've had it?

MrH. I know what you mean. Modem and antenna stashed away somewhere. It's sad to see a company lose its competitive edge like iBurst has.

I probably had and still have (till end of the month) one of the better iburst connections, but just been with "that" company used to worry the hell out of me, so no I can't say I was very happy dealing with an incompetent company.

It was a relief when I finally managed to get it canceled (after many calls and hassles) and I got ADSL now as well which makes even my good iburst connection look like a dialup connection.

Besides that there is an international forum I belong to which I've not been able to access for about a month because of iburst blocking sites at random, yet with the ADSL there is no problem accessing that forum which I still cannot access with iburst.

I do not like the way "they" decide what we can do and what sites we are allowed to access.

I said it many times it's a good system runs by idiots.

Which ADSL package did you go for? Line speed most importantly...

I know even 384 is faster than iBurst despite the downloads being slower, browsing is just so much faster.

I went for the telkom "do" level 3 package month to month up to 4mbps 3GB cap and downloading at a stable 3,7mbps which is a lot faster than iburst.
I called them one afternoon and picked up the free modem/router the next day and did a self install.

I also bought an axxess 1GB voucher for R70 to test to see how it will work and it works fine.

I was similar to MrH. My connection must have run at 900kbps+ for 95%+ of the time. But when I looked at cost and some of the absolutely shocking treatment I received from iBurst I decided that I had enough.

I was on G9 but I would find that I would finish this by about the 20th. And sometimes I would buy an extra gig or 3. The final straw was when they announced the new top up prices. I did a comparison of G9 v do3 and 30GB local and I haven't looked back since.

They read the forum all the time but no comment or help from them since Ed left, not that any of them could help customers as they are hardly fit to even run a business.:rolleyes:

With the product now being touted as the replacement for dial-up, it doesn't make sense for iBurst to answer any of the queries and acknowledge the problems that subscribers are having.

It is becoming more and more clear that iBurst will soon no longer be a standalone company, but a Vodacom subsidiary and the only reason for this is the fact that Vodacom want their Wi-Max license.

We all noted this the day Knott-Craig Jnr joined the company and it was re-inforced when VC bought 10%.

iBurst have no interest in their subscribers problems.

Yes, it's sad to see things going downhill...

I was enthusiastic about iBurst, but not anymore...

Besides, adsl works just great.

Thought I might as well add to the pile....

I cancelled my iBurst last month, took the the DO1 package and am more than satisfied.
I find I get more consistant speeds from Telkom, at a much cheaper price!

The final straw was when iBurst just refused to answer a technical query I logged with them, fobbing me off all the time, kept telling me a technical assistant would contact me within 48 hours - this was about two months ago and still no-one has contacted me, despite having a ref number etc.

I even logged a complaint on hello peter, hoping this would inspire some support, but not even a single response to that.

So bye bye iburst, dont slam the door on your way out!

Yeah, I also asked to be billed the 1st of the month, but that never happens for me, it's always around the 28th of the month.

The banks keep very detailed and accurate record on transactions, appears iBurst cant even keep track of it own bank records

For those that have canceled or are about to cancel make sure you "load" your debit orders AFTER you are SURE all payments are up to date.

From past posts here by customers that had left iburst some had money "stolen" by iburst months after they left.

For those that don't know what "load" is, what it does is block any debit requests from iburst to your bank account for 6 months and all it costs is R23 for that period, then if you want to make sure they don't try after the 6 months just "load" it once again well worth the R23 for peace of mind.;)

The "load" term is what SB call it, not sure if all banks refer to it as that.

Also handy would be detailed bank statements so if they phone in to complain you can fax/email the whole lot off to them and they can't do a thing :D
