When I returned to SA my old man just gave me one of his RICA'd simcards (oooh arent we naughty criminals!) and I've been using that ever since.

Decided to get a contract on cell-c now but want to keep my old number.

My question is, when I RICA the new sim, and then try and port the number over, are the RICA systems that intelligent that the porting will be blocked in any way with two difference ID numbers?

Knowing what a farce this whole RICA stuff is, I'm sure nothing will go wrong but wanted to check with those in the know..

Thanks!

I very much doubt it. I cannot speak for Cell C...but when we at Vodacom port a number over to us that is a prepaid number on another network...we send a OTP to that number which the client must then give back to us (we do not know what the OTP is...only the system does). If the OTP is correct that the client gave...then the system will submit the port request. If the OTP is not correct then the system will not allow us to continue.

With contract...it goes according to the account number and ID number..not RICA.

Thanks! If I run into problems will report back
