So my trusty Netgear DGN2000 seems to be failing after 3 years of faultless service.

What to replace it with?

I will not buy Linksys or D-Link, I've had way too many issues with various different models from them in the past to ever consider them again.

Requirements:
4x 1000Mbps Ethernet Ports (100Mbps is not acceptable)
At least 300Mbps Wi-Fi, pref 600+Mbps

I'm leaning towards the Netgear DGND3700v2, anyone got any other suggestions?

Hi grim, this is gram :)

I also have a DGN2000. Out of curiosity, what problems are you having with it? I would like to know what the warning signs are...

The DGND3700v2 seems like a solid device as per this review below..

It started randomly rebooting about two weeks ago, at first it was like once or twice a day which is fine. It's now like every 10 mins and it's getting hot as hell, I've added some extra vent holes which hasn't really helped.

I don't mean to Hijack your thread, but I too, am looking for a new router. I've been looking at the Netgear N300 WIRELESS ADSL2 + MODEM ROUTER DGN2200 but that's like R800. Isn't there a cheaper option, that gives the same quality? I couldn't really be arsed about the wireless quality ect...

Once again, sorry for the Hi-jack. I saw the post and didn't want to start a new thread for the same question.

You can get a TP-Link but they don't have 1000Mbps ethernet ports :/

Check out www.dbg.co.za they sell them

I'll check it out! I'm not phased about gigabit nerworks either. It's for my foreveralone PC at home, and my girlfriend seldomly connects with her PSvita over the wireless.

I just don't want to go with D-link or linksys, they give way too many problems.

I just bought a new D-Link modem. I always they thought they were great. I hope mine works ok :)

But to answer you question - you can't go wrong with Netgear. My DG834GT started showing signs of wear about 5 years in so I replaced the wireless/ethernet part. Now I think the DSL port might be gone but this is another 3 years in so I am impressed thus far.

For value and good quality I think so far Netgear and D-Link are the best. R800 is a good price!

Never touch Billion - a load of kak.

I used to have a single ethernet port D-link ADSL router. That thing was pretty indestructible. Literally. Even lightning had nothing on that little guy (true story). Then I upgraded to a 4 port ADSL wireless router, also by D-link, and it gave ENDLESS problems.

I guess you get the good and bad batches, but I can honestly say, I've never had problems with Netgear. Guess I will just fork out the R800 and get it...

Bought the DGND3700v2 about a week ago.Upgraded from the DGN2200 which I was very happy with but was looking for a little more oomph and the dual band functionality on the 3700 looked very appealing.Unfortunately returned the 3700 after a week as I was getting these random disconnects which I never got with the 2200.After doing some research on the net it is apparently quite a common problem with the 3700.A real pity as the 3700 looked like it had so much to offer.
Getting the Billion 7800N tomorrow and will report back on performance

Did you update the firmware on the 3700v2? I know they had some firmware issues a while back

Yep fully updated. If you have the time suggest getting it as you have 7 days in which to return it thanks to NCA.

One of my friends has one and his only issue was that the Wi-Fi isolation wouldn't turn off, that was fixed with a firmware update.

Picked up the Netgear DGND3700v2 this afternoon, looking impressive so far.

My line stats are also slightly better than the old one:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Link Rate 10015 Kbps 1023 Kbps
Line Attenuation 15.0 dB 11.0 dB
Noise Margin 19.8 dB 7.7 dB

Downstream attenuation used to be 16.5db and noise margin was 16-17db
