I too am due for an upgrade (MTN contract) soon, and I'm more than a little conflicted about what to choose. I'm leaning towards Samsung, yes the Huawei/China / America debacle has me leaning away from the Chinese brands for now. I do have a Redmi at the moment, I like it, but finding something as simple as a screen protector in SA is a challenge.
So I'm thinking Samsung S9+ (S10 is a bit above my budget). Or the A70. I am into photography and take a lot of photos with my phone, I've not heard great things about the A70's cameras, but not sure if there's another Samsung I'm not considering. I want a phone that's parts and accessories are relatively widely available in SA. Something that can be locally repaired if for example the screen gets broken. I thought about Sony, had one some years ago, loved it, but now Sony mobile is also exiting SA, which leaves LG. Not sure how availability is for LG's parts and accessories.
Basically want a phone with a good camera, decent battery, SD storage is preferred, but not a deal breaker if the phone has enough storage. Am I missing something? What else is out there that I'm not considering?

yeah get the S9+, A70 has a SD chipset and will be able to use Gcam better though
