Hi Guys.

Any of u use a monitor as a Tv ? I'm stuck between getting a Mecer 32" LCD monitor ( hooked up with a tv tuner ) and getting a 32" TV . Input will be coax for TV since its a secondary , far from decoder TV , then also a media player via HDMI and Wii via component . The price difference is about R1.5K. Any significant disadvantages when using a monitor over anactual TV that makes the 1.5K saving not worthit ?

Thanks

Would be good to test the performance of each setup at displaying TV.

The TV has a much better panel and will give much better picture quality.

Are you deaf? :o
What will you be using for sound? The TV has built in speakers.

Seriously, the TV will just be more versatile if you need to use it in another setup later.

Thought of that ... Monitor has speakers as well but current 51cm TV connected to old HiFi system with (shielded) speakers. so no worries there. awesome sond for such a cheap , dated setup .. hence me asking these questions .. I wanna keep it cheap since only the kids will use it mostly

Yes.

Btw, what all will you be using the screen for...?

Used for TV via standalone tuner ( coax into tuner, VGA out to vga in on monitor ) .WD TV Media player via HDMI. and Wii via component.
I went to go have look at the monitor. Same res as a lcd tv (1366 x 768 ) and 2x10w speaker and then also all the inputs i need. No bad i must say.

Perhaps add plasma - will be best for TV quality.
