tried searching for a previous thread, but was unsuccessful...
What if any, is the best anti-virus to run on Android OS?
Interested to know...
Was advised that NOD uses too much resources...

I use Lookout.

Not Really because of the antivirus but because it can find my phone if it goes missing. Can also wipe and lock the phone remotely.

But, about the antivirus, it doesn't seem to use much system resources (no difference on my SGS).

I got a free copy of Nortons, so I run that on my phone and Lookout on my tablet.

iOS 5... He he..

Thanks Elimentals...
Exactly the info I was looking for.

Thanks to others who contributed as well.

I tried them all and just found no joy out of any of them, AVG i must say has to be the worst if your phones rooted, constantly pestering about root being a security problem and wanting to unroot your phone.
Looksouts not much more than a pretty phone tracker, anti-virus was kind of an after thought for them.
McAfee, if its anything like the pc version your actually safer without it, at least they have not made a trend micro av for droid yet, i remember testing that one some years ago and downloaded 28 variations of Win32.CH1 without any trouble.

Personally i have not been hit by a virus and from the research ive done its pretty hard to get one without being pretty stupid. They exist but the numbers are few and they are pretty much scattered here and there, any normal website you visit wont have it and unless your downloading your apps from seriously dodgy places you wont find them, and well if your downloading them from those dodgy places then its really nothing more than your own stupidity. If i get any app from a 3rd party source there is 1 and only 1 i use and that's cause i know its extremely reliable. In general though i prefer to stick to market apps.

Erm yeah... about getting them, I can link you a whole lot of them directly in the Android market. They not hard to find once you know what to look for but its no more a case of only getting them off dogy sites.

Anyway, rather safe than sorry I say ;)

Used to be paranoid like that, even used to pay for anti-virus, but its been so many years since my AV has done anything other than tell me its updated ive almost stopped worrying.
I did get a virus on my nokia 6680 once, that was quite funny.

Running ESET trial at the moment, doesn't seem to bad.
Will give lookout a try

There are loads of smaller ones like ESET, Zoner and Dr.Web, but there is simply way to few people running them to be worth the mention.

And if you look at Antivirus Free from Creative apps developer web site I can not see why so many people trust it. Yeah I know I should not judge an application by its site, but when it comes to security I would rather trust a professional Outfit like This

@CranialBlaze, I understand your reasoning for example I dont run a Anti-virus on my Linux desktop and only use MSE on my Windows pc's but when something has the potential to cost me money like international phone calls or data caps, I rather waste that extra CPU cycles than wake up one morning with a R2000+ Cell phone account.

This thread is way more informative than I was hoping for, thanks for the input guys.
I've installed Lookout and have not noticed any slow-down or resource hogging. Though it may not be "complete peace of mind", it certainly is better than nothing.
And I agree with Elimentals, better safe than sorry.
