Stolla, you neglect to say where you are which has a huge bearing on viability: I mean, it's beyond silly to cart large and unwieldy objects like said grid and 3m pole across the country! But I see from your posts that you're down Cape-way, so (to my thinking at least) that shuts us highveld people out.
