Anti-Virus: Corporate

Hey Guys

So we currently use Symantec End-Point security. Is it just me or is it the biggels load of crap ever made?

So what other decent options are there? I've used Kaspersky and it seems to be VERY effective! Is there a "Managed" option available and who in JHB can I speak to regarding the purchasing of +-80 licences?

Also, any other good "Manageble" anti-virus options out there thats not too expensive and who should I contact to obtain licences?

End point security too bulky, our company is running Symantec AntiVirus 10 on several thousand laptops, no problem.

My dad's small company is running SAV 9, also no problem, decent protection.

I would not recommend Kasperky for corporate environment, in a corporate environment you need something that's well balanced in protection, performance, support and stability/consistency. I would stick with the big names like Symantec/NAI/Trend.

False positives with Kaspersky and some of their mechanisms worries me and I will not risk my corporate data with them at this moment of the time.

Ahem, er.. I think someone needs to break it to you dude. You must be smoking something very heavy :p SAV9 or SAV10 is a load of crap, period. Skips a few viruses, hogs the system, and hogs the system more.
My company also used SAV9 and now uses SAV10 for over 2000 pcs/laptops. It's crap. I've uninstalled it and I'm running Kaspersky 7 at work, Avast @ home, works for me, and I presume alot of other guys. If it were my choice, I'd ditch SAV any day and get Kas licenses for the entire company ;)

It's your experience, I have my own, BTW I have spent the past 5 years of my free time working on various forums as virus removal volunteer, I have seen various problems caused by Kaspersky on normal PC user's machine which occured much more frequently than Symantec's product (to list a few, flagged notepad.exe as trojan horse, Winrar's Default.sfx as trojan horse, can not clean infected executable fiiles and delete while other antivirus like symantec will clean or quarantine).

Big corporates need comprehensive security solutions (not just your normal antivirus), at the moment I think Kaspersky still need to work on their products a little harder.

:D Yip, seen too many people arguing which one is the best, trying to defend their own choice of software and convince others. Me not interested, the best antivirus is what's best work for you, not others.

I agree. Symantec corporate edition is EXTREMELY resource intensive and slows workstations down quite a lot. I have trialed KAS on 5 machines which all had symantic on with all the patches and updates and yet there was still adware and crap popping up. Symantec said all is in order. Kaspersky detected and successfully removed 30+ threats on 3 of the machines and 15+ on the other two and all 5 machines had improved drastically in performance and even start-up times improved a hell of a lot.

kaspersky also seems to update more often.

i have to be honest, though, i have been receiving excellent support when it comes to symantec. just a bit sceptical what ill get from kasperksy. who is the main kaspersky guys, biodata?
